Skateboard…Scooter…Who cares mama’s happy!

So once the boy hit three years old, I realized he was getting sick of going everywhere in the double stroller.  Most the time when he wanted to walk I’d let him and I’d push the girl in the single stroller.  However since we live on a university campus we’d get about half way to our destination and he’d get tired on me and want to ride or he’d be walking so slow I’d have to carry him on my shoulders to make it to my meeting in time.  I was so excited that we were getting to the point of not needing to push the double stroller everywhere, but carrying a kid and pushing a single is for the birds!  Solution???  The scooter stroller!!!
I had seen several designs online but they each ran about $70, and some didn’t have the greatest reviews.  So with the awesome husband, hours in Lowes, and the ipad strapped to the front of our cart with a movie, (this is the only way to do Lowes with children) we put our heads together and came up with our own design.  And it only cost $30!  Everyone keeps telling us we should market them but we don’t want to have to go through all the liability junk there is with kid stuff, and we don’t want to spend our time making them.  So, instead here is a quick tutorial if you want to make your own.

Items Needed:

Drill/ Drill Bit
Screwdriver
Saw
Circle piece of wood
2 swivel casters
10 bolts and nuts
Wall mount bike rack

1. Purchase supplies!

2. Leave about 3/4 of the circle for the part to stand on. (use a circle so you aren't hitting your toes on sharp corners.)
3. Using the scrap piece of wood place it against the bottom because you will nee the thickness.  We also cut that piece so the wheels would fit easier. Pre-drill your bolt holes!

4. This is what it should look like so far!

5. Trace the holes of the wheels so that again you can pre-drill.

6. Stick in your bolts and tighten them down.

7. Still tightening!

8. Tada! Two happy kids! One happy Mama!
